Digistamp Boutique June Competition Olive

This is my addition to the Digistamp Boutique June competition. The competition terms this month were to create a card using the cheeky little Olive pictures. I chose the image with lots of flowers because I like plenty of flowers on my cards. My pictures are not fantastic because the light in the house was not great tonight but I have tried my best with a little toucing up.

Here is the inside of my card, I think this is just as important as the front!! We crafter's are perfectionists........ or maybe it's just me.
I used Papermania Lilac card and folded into a square card. I then cut away a curved corner in the bottom right hand-side. I then matt and layered the image with lemon and purple paper, edging the lemon with my decorative scissors. I used a lilac chequered paper on the front and inside to match the colour scheme. I embellished my card with adhesive pearls, lemon ribbon and lemon sequin flowers and a bit of doodling..... I love to doodle.
Now I'm off to try and see if I can make mr linky work and enter my card for the comp.

Non Crafting Day

Sorry to say that today has been a non crafting day, due to not feeling in the mood. I thought I would quickly post but only briefly as I need to rest.
Had another spell in A&E tonight so not too happy, but will just have to wait for Thursdays CT scan to find out if there is another problem.
Lets just hope that I get to stay at home!!!

Anniversary Card

I know this is a late posting but I have had a busy day and I just wanted to post my anniversary card for today. I made this card for my sister-in-law as it is her wedding anniversary on Monday.

I painted a cherished teddies stamp, which I have had for years but I thought it was appropriate. My husband suggested the black and red theme. I used some spotted DCWV paper and tore it along the edges. I mounted the picture on the edge of the card and cut off the over lapping card. I then glued my own quilled flowers along the bottom edge of the picture and then finished off with Wingo Sizzix letters spelling 'Anniversary' down the left hand side. I'm still not sure about the lettering but I had to go with it as it needed to be out in the post today.

Itchy Nose

I did do some crafting last night. It's my sister-in-laws anniversary on Monday, so I was busy making a card last night to post. But unfortunately I haven't finished it as I don't know how to place the letters, but I will post this later for your reviews.

Melody was itching her nose on her favourite sunflower toy and I thought the picture was really cute, so here it is.
Promise to post the card later. It's a beautiful day outside, so I'm going to make the most of it.

Uses for leftover scrap paper

I didn't sleep very well last night, so I decided to get up and do some crafting in the office. Carrying on with the thrifty theme I thought I would get my Sizzix out and cut some die shapes using my leftover scrap pieces of paper and card. Then I placed the shapes into individual food bags and labelled them (I can be organised when I want to be!)

I love these food bags from Ikea, they come in two colours and sizes. Great for organising your crafts. So I started to think about what other uses or crafting techniques you can use your scrap paper for. I created this list:

  1. Punching out shapes
  2. Lining your envelopes
  3. Making a collage
  4. Making your own book markers
  5. Die Cutting (like myself)
  6. Origami
  7. Weaving scraps like ribbon
  8. Paper Sculpting
  9. Making your own beads (tear strips and roll into a bead)
  10. Covering pencils to make them look unique
  11. Creating a mosaic
  12. Making your own flower embellishments
  13. Paper applique
  14. Making your own note book
  15. Using scraps to stamp onto
  16. Placing peel offs onto scrap paper and cutting out
  17. Making your own confetti
  18. Making matchbox size boxes
  19. Paper Mache
  20. Wrapping and decorating a chocolate bar as a gift
  21. Creating your own paper shoes
  22. Crimp it to give a different dimension to your card
  23. Paper piercing
  24. Use to Matt and layer your cards
  25. Use for journaling your scrapbooking pages

Well these are just a few of my ideas, but I would love to know if you have any of your own.

Thrifty Crafting!

Well here goes....................
This is my very first edition to my newly born blog. I have been trying to pluck up the courage to start my own blog for a few months now. So after much debating and faffing about with colours, pictures and fonts, here it is. I hope I won't be alone out here in blog land for long.

I thought I would start my first post with my version of thrifty crafting. I had saved the plastic tub from fabric detergent a while ago but hadn't decided what to do with it. I needed some storage for my sizzix cut out dies, so I came up with this little beauty....
I would love to know your thoughts.
